Aidil Sholeh Advances to Vietnam Open Final; Doubles Pair Falls Short

In Ho Chi Minh City, Malaysia's Aidil Sholeh is on the brink of securing his most significant title of the season after advancing to the men's singles final at the 2026 Vietnam Open. Sholeh faced a tough challenge in the semifinals, where he overcame Japan’s Minoru Koga after losing the first game, ultimately winning 14-21, 21-15, 21-17 in a match that lasted 68 minutes.

The 26-year-old will compete against Singapore's top seed Jason Teh Jia Heng for the Super 100 title. Sholeh's journey to the final included a notable quarterfinal victory over China's fifth seed Dong Tian Yao, which he won in straight games, 21-18, 21-17. This final marks Sholeh's first championship match of the season and his first Super 100 final since last year's Al Ain Masters.

In the men's doubles category, Malaysia's Choong Hon Jian and Wong Vin Sean were unable to progress to the final after being defeated by Chinese Taipei's top seeds Chen Zhi Ray and Lin Yu Chieh. The Malaysian duo fought hard but lost in straight games, 17-21, 19-21, concluding their campaign just one match shy of the final.

Despite their exit, Choong and Wong's semifinal performance, which included a strong quarterfinal win against Cheng Kai Wen and Liao Chao Pang, showcased their capabilities and marked a commendable week for the pair. Meanwhile, Chen and Lin will face Singapore's Terry Hee Yong Kai and Howin Wong Jia Hao for the men’s doubles title, adding to the competitive landscape of the tournament.

In other results, Thailand's Sarunrak Vitidsarn advanced to the women's singles final after defeating India's top seed Tanvi Sharma in a closely contested match. Sarunrak will face India's third seed Isharani Baruah, who secured her spot by overcoming sixth seed Rakshitha Sree Santhosh Ramraj. The women's doubles final will see South Korea's Kim Yu Jung and Lee Yu Lim take on China's Liu Jia Yue and Wang Zi Meng, following their respective semifinal victories.
