Justice Department Investigates Clippers Over Kawhi Leonard Endorsements

The U.S. Department of Justice has initiated a criminal investigation into the Los Angeles Clippers concerning their alleged efforts to secure "no-show" endorsement deals for star player Kawhi Leonard, as reported by the New York Times. This inquiry is being conducted by the U.S. Attorney's Office in Brooklyn, which has a history of investigating issues related to professional sports leagues.

This investigation is in its preliminary stages, and it remains uncertain what federal charges, if any, could arise from it. In addition, the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) is examining Daktronics' involvement in the situation, given its endorsement deal with Leonard despite a lack of evidence that he fulfilled any promotional obligations for the company.
