Ieuan Davies, a mixed martial artist from Wrexham, is determined to secure a spot in the UFC after recently winning the Cage Warriors lightweight championship. The 30-year-old fighter showcased his skills by defeating Omiel Brown in just 61 seconds with a rear naked choke, marking his sixth submission victory in his professional career.
With an undefeated record of 8-0, Davies believes he is on the right path to follow in the footsteps of notable fighters like Conor McGregor and Mason Jones, both of whom transitioned from Cage Warriors to the UFC. He expressed confidence in his potential, stating, "I truly believe it will happen," and emphasized that he does not think the UFC can overlook his accomplishments for much longer.
Davies, who previously served as a paratrooper in the British Army, made the bold decision to leave his military career to pursue MMA full-time. Reflecting on his choice, he noted that while it was a difficult decision, he wanted to avoid future regrets about not pursuing his passion. This year has marked a significant turnaround for him after a challenging 2022 filled with canceled fights and injuries, which had him contemplating a return to the military. Now, with a championship title in hand, he is focused on continuing to prove himself in the octagon.
