Steve Ballmer Accepts NBA Penalties for Clippers' Salary Cap Violations

Los Angeles Clippers owner Steve Ballmer has publicly acknowledged the penalties imposed by the NBA following an investigation into the team's circumvention of salary cap regulations. The inquiry, which lasted 11 months, focused on alleged 'no-show' endorsement deals involving former player Kawhi Leonard.

In a statement, Ballmer expressed his sincere regrets about the situation, stating, "This has been a very difficult time for everybody associated with the Clippers, and for that, I have sincere regrets." He apologized to fans, employees, and fellow NBA owners, taking responsibility as the principal owner of the team.

The NBA's findings resulted in the Clippers facing a hefty $30 million fine and the forfeiture of five future first-round draft picks. Additionally, Ballmer and team president Lawrence Frank received suspensions. Despite the penalties, Leonard was fined $700,000 but will not face suspension for the upcoming season.

Ballmer confirmed that the Clippers will not pursue legal action against the league and are committed to moving forward, having already paid the fine and communicated their compliance with the penalties.
