Salisbury and Ram Advance to US Open Doubles Semifinals
5 days agoJoe Salisbury and Rajeev Ram, the three-time US Open men's doubles champions, have advanced to the semifinals after defeating last year's winners, Marcel Granollers and Horacio Zeballos. The British-American duo secured their victory with a score of 6-4, 6-4 against the second-seeded pair.
Salisbury and Ram, who previously won the US Open together in 2021, 2022, and 2023, had split up in 2024 but reunited earlier this year. They will now face Kevin Krawietz and Tim Putz, the finalists from 2024, in the upcoming semifinal match.
In another notable match, British player Henry Patten, alongside Finnish partner Harri Heliovaara, overcame a tough challenge to defeat seventh seeds Manuel Guinard and Guido Andreozzi. Patten and Heliovaara saved three match points and rallied from a set down to win 6-7 (7-9), 7-6 (7-3), 6-2, securing their place in the semifinals.
Patten is set to meet fellow Briton Neal Skupski if Skupski and American Christian Harrison can overcome the Italian duo Simone Bolelli and Andrea Vavassori in their quarterfinal match.
In women's doubles action, top seeds Katerina Siniakova and Taylor Townsend are on the brink of achieving a Grand Slam title sweep after defeating Diana Shnaider and Elise Mertens 6-0, 7-6 (10-8). They will face American pair Robin Montgomery and Ashlyn Krueger in the final, who pulled off a remarkable comeback against the second seeds.
