Vitality Bounces Back to Reach BLAST Porto Semi-Finals
10 days agoVitality secured their spot in the semi-finals of the BLAST Open Porto by overcoming FURIA in a closely contested three-map series, winning 2-1. The match began with a disappointing performance from Vitality on Nuke, where they lost 6-13 but rebounded with victories on Cache and Dust2, finishing the series with scores of 13-11 and 13-4 respectively.
Dan "apEX" Madesclaire reflected on their struggles during the Nuke map, stating that it was one of their worst T-side performances. Despite losing both pistols on Cache, Vitality managed to clinch the map, thanks in part to a clutch play by Justinas "jL" Lekavicius that helped them secure a narrow victory.
The series opened with FURIA dominating Nuke, where they showcased strong gameplay and minimal deaths in the early rounds. Vitality struggled to find their rhythm, taking nine rounds before finally scoring. However, the team showed resilience on Cache, where they fought back from an early deficit to take the match.
In the decisive map, Dust2, Vitality demonstrated their familiarity with the terrain, winning the first half 8-4 and then effectively shutting down FURIA's offense in the second half. This victory marks their advance to the semi-finals, where they will face MOUZ, with jL set to compete against another team he previously substituted for.
