Rays Place Shane McClanahan on IL Due to Forearm Tightness

The Tampa Bay Rays have announced that pitcher Shane McClanahan has been placed on the 15-day injured list due to left forearm tightness. This decision was made public on Friday following his recent performance against the Texas Rangers.

In his last outing, McClanahan pitched five innings, allowing four runs and six hits in a 6-0 loss. Despite the struggles, there were no immediate signs of discomfort during or after the game, according to team management.

This marks McClanahan's second trip to the IL this season; he previously missed two starts in late July due to back tightness. The 29-year-old left-hander has made 24 starts this season, posting a 3.36 ERA and a 10-7 record, while striking out 106 batters over 118 innings.

The Rays, currently leading the American League with an 83-57 record, have recalled pitcher Alex Cook from Triple-A Durham to fill McClanahan's spot on the roster. Cook has a 4.64 ERA in 37 appearances this season, with a brief stint in the majors earlier this year.
