Harriet Dart Exits US Open Amid Health Struggles

Harriet Dart, representing Great Britain, experienced a challenging second-round match at the US Open, ultimately losing to Czech player Marie Bouzkova. Dart reported feeling unwell and struggled with the high temperatures, which reached around 30 degrees Celsius in New York.

In the match, Dart was unable to find her rhythm, resulting in a decisive 6-2, 6-2 defeat. She faced difficulties on serve, committing eight double faults and managing to land only 45% of her first serves. Bouzkova quickly established control, winning seven consecutive games to secure the first set and maintain a lead in the second.

Dart utilized ice towels and cold-air hoses during changeovers in an effort to cool down. After the match, she acknowledged her health issues, stating, "I have been a bit under the weather. It is what it is, sadly." Despite her struggles, she credited Bouzkova's performance, noting her opponent's toughness.

With Dart's exit, Fran Jones remains the only British player left in the singles draws at Flushing Meadows. Dart's loss follows another early exit for a British player, Katie Boulter, who was defeated by Karolina Muchova in just 58 minutes.

In the men's draw, several British players, including Jacob Fearnley and Toby Samuel, also faced second-round defeats, while Cameron Norrie and others exited in the first round.
