Soh Wooi Yik and Aaron Tai Shine at China Masters; Shi Yuqi Exits Early Again

In Shenzhen, China, the newly formed men's doubles duo of Soh Wooi Yik and Aaron Tai from Malaysia kicked off their campaign at the China Masters with a comeback victory. They overcame Japan's Hiroki Okamura and Kyohei Yamashita, winning the match 18-21, 21-12, 21-15 after losing the first game.

Soh and Aaron, who are eight years apart in age, demonstrated resilience by taking control in the second and third games. This marks their first tournament together, and they will face China's Chen Boyang and Liu Yi in the next round after the latter's opponents were unable to finish their match.

In other matches, Malaysia's Tee Kai Wun and Yap Roy King also secured a win, overcoming Chinese Taipei's He Zhi Wei and Huang Jui Hsuan in a three-game battle. However, the tournament saw Goh Sze Fei and Nur Izzuddin Rumsani withdraw from their match due to injury concerns, cutting short their participation.

On the singles side, Malaysia's Leong Jun Hao was eliminated by Indonesia's top seed Jonatan Christie, who came back from a deficit to win 21-17, 21-19. This defeat concluded Malaysia's men's singles challenge in the tournament.

In a notable upset, China's sixth seed Shi Yuqi suffered another first-round exit, this time at the hands of Singapore's Loh Kean Yew, who won decisively in just 30 minutes. This marks Shi's second consecutive early exit, following his disappointing performance at the recent World Championships.
