Shohei Ohtani's Pitching Status Uncertain Amid Injury Concerns

Shohei Ohtani's dual-role status with the Los Angeles Dodgers has faced a setback as he continues to deal with injuries. Dodgers manager Dave Roberts confirmed that Ohtani is not currently healthy enough to pitch, putting his pitching duties on hold while the team aims for a third consecutive World Series title.

Ohtani has not taken the mound in an MLB game since July 3, grappling with knee inflammation and discomfort in his biceps. Although he participated in a brief bullpen session on August 28, throwing approximately 20 pitches, there is no timeline for his return to pitching.

As of August 31, Ohtani is performing well as a designated hitter, boasting a .280 batting average, 30 home runs, and 80 RBIs over 127 games. On the pitching front, he has an 8-2 record with 14 starts this season, allowing 55 hits and striking out 95 batters, but his future as a pitcher remains uncertain. The Dodgers have not officially ruled him out for the remainder of the season, suggesting he could return in a limited capacity if cleared.
