Liam McCracken Fights for UFC Contract After Near-Fatal Bus Accident

Liam McCracken is poised to compete for a UFC contract on Dana White's Contender Series in Las Vegas, just three years after a horrific accident left him fighting for his life. The 25-year-old mixed martial artist from Liverpool was struck by a bus while out for a run, an incident that resulted in him being dragged 60 feet beneath the vehicle.

The accident occurred when McCracken stepped into the road without checking for oncoming traffic. Witnesses described the scene as chaotic, with a couple discovering him unconscious and bleeding heavily under the bus. Thanks to the quick actions of passersby, including a paramedic, McCracken received immediate care that likely saved his life.

Following the accident, McCracken faced a daunting recovery process, suffering multiple severe injuries including fractures to his back, ribs, and pelvis, as well as a ruptured knee ligament. Initially, he feared he might never walk or fight again. Remarkably, he has made a comeback and is now set to face Mexican lightweight Silvestre Sanchez on Tuesday.
