Teo Kok Siang and Wong Pei Tty Rejoin BAM Coaching Staff
17 days agoThe Badminton Association of Malaysia (BAM) is bolstering its coaching framework with the return of two notable figures, Teo Kok Siang and Wong Pei Tty. Both former Malaysian internationals are expected to commence their new roles on September 1, with Teo joining the mixed doubles coaching team and Wong reuniting with the women’s doubles department.
Teo Kok Siang has a history with BAM, having spent five years coaching within the national junior and senior doubles programs before leaving in 2022. His return is aimed at enhancing player development and improving the performance of Malaysia's mixed doubles teams on the international stage. Although he is not taking over as head coach, his experience is seen as a valuable asset in the restructuring of the mixed doubles department following the exit of former head coach Nova Widianto.
Wong Pei Tty, who once held the world No. 1 ranking in women’s doubles, will rejoin the coaching staff after previously serving in BAM’s women’s doubles department in 2020. Her extensive experience as both a player and coach will provide crucial insights to Malaysia’s women’s doubles teams, contributing to their development under head coach Rosman Razak.
These appointments reflect BAM's ongoing commitment to strengthening its coaching setup by incorporating experienced coaches familiar with the national system. The association is focused on nurturing local talent and enhancing the competitive edge of Malaysian badminton as it prepares for future international challenges.
