Zhao Xintong Claims World No. 1 Spot After Dominating Neil Robertson

Zhao Xintong has officially ascended to the top of the snooker world rankings after a commanding 5-1 victory over Neil Robertson in the quarter-finals of the Wuhan Open. This win not only propels him to the semi-finals but also marks a significant milestone as he becomes the second Chinese player to achieve the world number one status, following Ding Junhui's brief reign in 2014-2015.

The 29-year-old Zhao, who is a six-time ranking event champion, showcased his skill with impressive breaks of 106, 91, 113, and 54 during the match. His victory over Robertson came on the heels of Judd Trump's exit from the tournament, who lost to Chang Bingyu, thus ending Trump's two-year hold on the top ranking.

In the semi-finals, Zhao will face Xiao Guodong, who advanced after defeating Mark Williams 5-3. Meanwhile, seven-time world champion Ronnie O'Sullivan also progressed to the last four, overcoming Mark Selby 5-3. O'Sullivan, after a shaky start, rallied to win five of the last six frames, demonstrating his resilience and skill.
