Tom Aspinall Denies UFC Exit Rumors Amid Recovery from Eye Injury

Tom Aspinall, the reigning heavyweight champion, has refuted claims suggesting he is planning to exit the UFC. The fighter is currently focused on his recovery from a serious eye injury sustained during his last fight.

Aspinall's most recent bout took place in October, where his title defense ended in a no-contest due to repeated eye pokes from opponent Ciryl Gane. Following this, he was diagnosed with a rare eye condition that resulted in persistent double vision, leading to surgery.

In June, Aspinall announced that he had returned to full training and was preparing for a rematch against Gane, which he hinted could take place in September. However, recent social media reports indicated that he had decided to leave the UFC, a notion he has firmly denied.

"I've never said I have in any interview, and any words that have been taken from others today are simply not true," Aspinall stated, emphasizing that he is in regular communication with UFC officials regarding his status.

Aspinall has an impressive record of eight wins, one loss, and one no-contest in his ten UFC fights, with his only defeat coming against Curtis Blaydes due to a knee injury. Meanwhile, Gane recently won the interim heavyweight title and has called for a unification fight with Aspinall.
