Jeanie Buss Seeks Court Intervention to Block Lakers Sale
18 days agoJeanie Buss has officially taken legal action to prevent the sale of the Los Angeles Lakers, as revealed in a petition filed recently. This marks the second time she has sought the court's intervention regarding family disputes over the team.
The 97-page document accuses her siblings of "devious behavior" and claims she was neither consulted nor informed about the proposed sale. Jeanie expressed her belief that she had resolved family conflicts in 2017 but now feels compelled to seek relief from the court again.
In her petition, Jeanie aims to nullify her siblings' votes on the sale, remove Janie and Joey from their positions as co-trustees for alleged breaches of fiduciary duty, and hold several family members in contempt of court for their actions related to the sale.
Jeanie's concerns also extend to the valuation of the franchise, as she argues that the Lakers are being undervalued and that their worth is likely to increase. She has the support of minority owners Patrick Soon-Shiong and Ed Roski Jr., who believe she is best suited to lead the team and enhance its value.
The court date for this case is set for November 5, indicating that a resolution may still be some time away unless an out-of-court settlement is reached.
