FURIA kicked off their BLAST Open Porto campaign just days after a disappointing fourth-place finish at the Esports World Cup, where they suffered defeats to FUT and Legacy. The team faced the challenge of overcoming their recent setbacks as they entered the tournament, but they managed to channel their frustration into a commanding performance against fellow Brazilians paiN.

Mareks "YEKINDAR" Gaļinskis spoke about the team's mindset following their earlier losses, expressing that their anger at themselves served as motivation. He noted that there were pivotal moments in their match against FUT that could have led to a different outcome, highlighting both the opponents' skill and their own mistakes.

In a decisive match against paiN, FURIA demonstrated their dominance, sweeping the series with a strong showing on both Mirage and Cache. On Mirage, FURIA established a commanding lead with a 10-2 halftime score, ultimately winning 13-2. Their performance on Cache was equally impressive, with YEKINDAR taking on in-game leader responsibilities and delivering an outstanding individual performance, finishing with an 18-7 kill-death ratio by halftime.
