Williams Sisters to Reunite for US Open Doubles

Serena and Venus Williams are set to compete together in the doubles event at the US Open, marking their first Grand Slam appearance as a duo since 2022. The United States Tennis Association (USTA) has awarded them a wildcard entry for the tournament.

The Williams sisters, who have previously won the women's doubles title at the US Open twice, last played together at the 2022 edition of the event. This was significant as it was Serena's final tournament before stepping back from professional tennis.

Serena has made a return to the sport, participating in doubles at the Queen's tournament in June and later receiving a wildcard for the Wimbledon singles event. However, she faced a knee injury that prevented her from competing in the women's doubles at Wimbledon, where she was slated to play alongside Venus.

Venus, on the other hand, has been active on the WTA Tour, playing both singles and doubles sporadically. The sisters recently teamed up at the Cincinnati Open, where they were eliminated in the first round.

The pair have a storied history in doubles, having won a total of 14 Grand Slam titles together, with their most recent victory at Wimbledon in 2016. They will begin their campaign at the US Open on either September 3 or 4. Venus has also received a wildcard for the singles event, which starts on August 30.
