Juan Soto Advances in Recovery, Takes Live Batting Practice

Juan Soto of the New York Mets took a significant step toward recovery by participating in live batting practice at Citi Field. This marks a positive development as he works to return from a calf injury that has sidelined him since July 25.

Soto has been a familiar sight at the ballpark in recent weeks, engaging in various activities to expedite his comeback. Reports indicate that a potential return date of September 1 has been suggested, although it remains a flexible target.

Interim manager Andy Green confirmed that once Soto is back, he will be utilized both as a designated hitter and in the outfield. This adjustment comes as the Mets have relied on A.J. Ewing, Luis Robert Jr., and Carson Benge in the outfield during Soto's absence.

The return of Soto could impact Robert's playing time, but the Mets are also mindful of managing the workloads of Benge and Ewing, both of whom are experiencing their first season in Major League Baseball.

Before his injury, Soto was enjoying a strong season, boasting a batting line of .283/.408/.539 with 21 home runs across 84 games. His return is eagerly anticipated as the Mets look to bolster their lineup for the remainder of the season.
