Giants Place Adrian Houser on Injured List, Call Up Braxton Roxby

The San Francisco Giants have officially placed pitcher Adrian Houser on the 15-Day Injured List due to a right forearm strain. In a corresponding move, the team has called up right-handed reliever Braxton Roxby from their AAA affiliate in Sacramento.

To accommodate Roxby's addition to the 40-man roster, the Giants transferred Whisenhunt to the 60-Day Injured List. The organization remains hopeful that Houser's injury is not severe, as he expressed some optimism following the game.

Roxby, 27, is set to make his Major League debut after being signed as an undrafted free agent in the 2020 draft. He joined the Giants as part of the trade for Taylor Rogers prior to the 2025 season. Although he has recorded a 4.11 ERA and a 4.92 FIP with Sacramento this season, he has shown improvement in recent outings.

As a four-pitch pitcher, Roxby primarily utilizes a slider, sinker, and cutter, while his four-seam fastball, averaging 94.6 mph, has been used less frequently. His fastball and slider have been effective against AAA hitters, while the cutter and sinker have faced more challenges. It will be intriguing to see how the Giants utilize his pitch selection at the major league level.
