Marketa Vondrousova Appeals Four-Year Doping Ban to CAS

Marketa Vondrousova, the 2023 Wimbledon champion, has officially appealed to the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) regarding her four-year suspension due to a refusal to undergo an anti-doping test. The ban, imposed by the International Tennis Integrity Agency (ITIA), stems from an incident in December 2025 when Vondrousova allegedly denied entry to a doping control officer at her residence.

The 27-year-old Czech player was charged after the officer attempted to conduct an out-of-competition test, which led to a tribunal ruling that found no adequate justification for her refusal. Vondrousova contends that she was under significant mental and physical stress at the time and felt unsafe due to the officer's failure to properly identify themselves.

CAS has acknowledged receipt of Vondrousova's appeal but has yet to schedule a hearing. The former world number six, who has not competed since January and has dropped to 153rd in the WTA rankings, has consistently denied any wrongdoing, stating she has never tested positive for banned substances throughout her career.
