Graeme Dott Removed from Snooker Hall of Fame Following Conviction

Graeme Dott, a former world snooker champion, has been removed from the World Snooker Hall of Fame following his conviction for sexually abusing two children. The 49-year-old was found guilty of multiple counts of lewd and indecent behavior towards a girl and a boy over a span of several years, with the incidents occurring between 1993 and 2010.

The trial revealed disturbing details, including instances where Dott exposed himself and inappropriately touched a young girl in the 1990s. A second victim testified that he was abused by Dott starting at the age of eight, shortly after Dott won his world title in 2006. Dott is scheduled for sentencing next month.

In response to the verdict, World Snooker announced that Dott's membership has been permanently revoked, effective immediately. This decision followed an emergency board meeting where it was unanimously agreed to remove him from the sport entirely.

Dott, who turned professional in 1994, had a notable career, including winning the World Championship in 2006 and reaching a career-high ranking of number two. However, he had been suspended from all professional activities since April 2025, pending the trial's outcome. His expulsion from the Hall of Fame marks a significant fall from grace for the once-celebrated athlete.
