
Dart and Jones Shine in US Open Qualifying Rounds

Dart, a seasoned competitor who has reached the second round of the US Open on two occasions, triumphed over American Jordyn Hazelitt with a scoreline of 6-0, 6-7 (1-7), 6-1. Her next challenge will be against 16-year-old Kristina Penickova.
Jones, who made her US Open debut last year, defeated Italy’s Nuria Brancaccio 6-3, 6-4 and will face Germany’s Mona Barthel in her following match.
In contrast, Jodie Burrage was eliminated after losing to Spain’s Guiomar Maristany 7-6 (7-1), 6-4, while Henry Searle fell to American Michael Antonius with a score of 6-1, 6-2 in the men's event.
Antonius is set to compete against former US Open finalist Kei Nishikori, who advanced after a hard-fought victory over Sebastian Ofner. Meanwhile, Grigor Dimitrov, a former semi-finalist, will take on Kazakhstan’s Timofey Skatov after a straightforward win against Lorenzo Giustino.
In other matches, 2019 US Open champion Bianca Andreescu progressed with a convincing 6-1, 6-2 victory against Eva Vedder. Heather Watson is also in action, preparing for her second-round match against Spain’s Angela Fita Boluda. Players must navigate three rounds of qualifying to secure a spot in the main draw, set to begin on Sunday.
