Graeme Dott Convicted of Child Sexual Abuse Charges

Graeme Dott, a former world snooker champion, has been convicted of child sexual abuse by the High Court in Glasgow. The 49-year-old faced two charges of lewd and libidinous behavior towards a girl and a boy, occurring between 1993 and 2010.

During the trial, evidence revealed that Dott had inappropriately touched a primary school girl in the 1990s and assaulted a young boy between 2006 and 2010. The girl, now in her 40s, recounted disturbing incidents where Dott exposed himself and engaged in inappropriate physical contact, which she described as shocking and frightening.

The boy, now in his 20s, testified that his abuse began shortly after Dott won the World Snooker Championship in 2006. He described being molested in various settings, including a shower and a car, and recalled Dott's manipulation through gifts and treats.

Following the verdict, Dott displayed visible distress, covering his face with his hands as the jury delivered their decision. He had previously denied the allegations, labeling them as "disgusting."

Detective Inspector Gary Smillie from Police Scotland characterized Dott as a "dangerous individual" and expressed hope that the conviction would bring some comfort to the victims. Dott is scheduled to be sentenced on September 29 in Edinburgh.
