Alex Lanier has etched his name into the annals of French badminton history by becoming the first French man to win a singles title at the BWF World Championships. The 21-year-old clinched this historic victory in New Delhi, defeating Japan's Kodai Naraoka with a decisive score of 21-11, 21-11.

Lanier, who was seeded ninth in the tournament, had already made headlines by reaching both the semifinals and finals, a first for any French men’s singles player since the event's inception in 1977. His performance in the final was commanding, as he maintained pressure on Naraoka throughout the match, not allowing the Japanese player to find his rhythm.

The final was anticipated to showcase a clash between Lanier's aggressive play and Naraoka's defensive style. However, Lanier took control early in the first game, establishing a lead that he never relinquished.
