YEKINDAR Discusses FURIA's Future Amid Retirement Rumors

FURIA has advanced to the semi-finals of the Esports World Cup after defeating G2, successfully countering opponents' attempts to exploit their previous map ban, Ancient. Following the match, Mareks "YEKINDAR" Gaļinskis shared insights on the team's strategic shift to include Ancient and addressed ongoing rumors regarding potential roster changes as Gabriel "FalleN" Toledo approaches retirement.

In an interview, YEKINDAR tackled speculation about his and Danil "molodoy" Golubenko's future with the team. He acknowledged that with FalleN's retirement looming, it is natural for players to explore other opportunities. "If things are not going to be working out... it's completely normal for people to look for other perspectives," he stated, while expressing hope that the core team can remain intact and find a suitable replacement for FalleN.

YEKINDAR also commented on FURIA's recent decision to incorporate Ancient into their map pool. He explained that following the decline of Overpass, the team recognized the need to adapt and experiment with their strategy. Although they faced teams with less experience on Ancient, YEKINDAR believes this shift has been beneficial for their confidence as they continue to refine their gameplay.

As for his role, YEKINDAR has begun taking on in-game leadership for certain maps, a move that reflects the team's evolving dynamics. He expressed satisfaction with their performance on Ancient, noting that despite some mechanical errors, the team has been able to execute their strategies effectively.
