Jack Shore Launches Stand and Bang Promotion in Ebbw Vale

Jack Shore, a former UFC fighter from Abertillery, is stepping into the realm of fight promotion nearly two years after his retirement from professional mixed martial arts. Shore, who has remained active in the sport as a coach, is launching his new venture, Stand and Bang, with its first event scheduled for August 22 at the Ebbw Vale Leisure Centre.

The Stand and Bang event will showcase 23 bouts inside a 20-foot boxing ring, focusing exclusively on striking without any grappling or takedowns. Shore aims to cater to the growing Welsh MMA scene, which he describes as being at an "all-time high."

In an effort to create an engaging experience for fans, Shore noted that he wanted to fill a niche in the market. He recalled how friends would often express disinterest in fights that involved grappling, prompting him to design an event that emphasizes stand-up fighting. Most competitors will wear MMA gloves, which Shore believes will enhance the excitement of the matches.

Shore also discussed the scoring system for the event, which prioritizes damage inflicted during fights, making it easier for spectators to follow along. He emphasized that while ring control and defensive maneuvers will be considered, the primary focus will be on the fighters' ability to deliver impactful strikes.

As he embarks on this new journey, Shore is committed to prioritizing the needs of the fighters. He expressed his understanding of the challenges faced by amateur and new professional fighters, stating that he is willing to make sacrifices to ensure their well-being and opportunities. Despite facing challenges, including rebooking fights due to late withdrawals, Shore feels a sense of accomplishment simply by reaching fight week.
