Mason Jones Reflects on Successful UFC Comeback After Career Rebuild

Mason Jones has shared insights into his career journey, emphasizing how stepping away from the UFC in 2022 has ultimately benefited him. After struggling with a record of one win, two losses, and one no-contest in his initial UFC tenure, Jones opted to rebuild his career outside the organization.

Returning to Cage Warriors, where he was a two-weight champion, Jones faced financial challenges but remained committed to his decision. He expressed that the sacrifices made during this period were necessary for his long-term success, stating, "I chose to leave [UFC]. I went back and I rebuilt everything I needed. It cost me a stupid amount of money, put me in debt at my eyeballs."

With a renewed focus, Jones achieved four consecutive victories in Cage Warriors, leading to his return to the UFC in 2025. He has since extended his winning streak to seven fights, earning both Fight of the Night and Performance of the Night bonuses, which have helped him stabilize his finances.

Currently, Jones is making strides in the lightweight division, although he has yet to secure a ranking. He recently defeated Axel Sola and is set to face MarQuel Mederos, with hopes that a victory will pave the way for a match against a top-15 opponent. Jones expressed his ambition to become the greatest Welsh fighter and aims to leave a lasting legacy in the UFC.
