Goh Soon Huat-Shevon Lai and Pearly Tan-Thinaah Advance in World Championships

In New Delhi, Malaysia's campaign at the 2026 BWF World Championships saw positive outcomes as Goh Soon Huat and Lai Shevon Jemie progressed in mixed doubles, while Pearly Tan and Thinaah Muralitharan advanced in women's doubles.

Goh and Lai, seeded 10th, secured their place in the round of 16 after defeating the American duo of Chen Zhi Yi and Francesca Corbett with scores of 21-15 and 21-16. Their next challenge will be against China's eighth seeds Cheng Xing and Zhang Chi, who won their previous match convincingly.

Pearly and Thinaah, the fifth seeds, also had a successful outing, overcoming Turkey's Bengisu Ercetin and Nazlıcan Inci with a score of 21-16, 21-13. They will face Indonesia’s 13th seeds Febriana Dwipuji Kusuma and Meilysa Trias Puspitasari in the next round.

The mixed doubles match between Goh and Lai and their Chinese opponents is set for August 20 at approximately 11:30 a.m., while Pearly and Thinaah's match against the Indonesian pair is expected to start around 1 p.m. on the same day. Both matches promise to be competitive as all teams come off strong performances in their opening rounds.
