Diamondbacks' Ketel Marte Placed on Restricted List After Missing Game

Marte, a three-time All-Star, was expected to serve as the designated hitter for the game. Piecoro confirmed that Marte is physically well but missed the game for unspecified reasons.

In response to Marte's absence, the Diamondbacks recalled infielder José Fernández from Triple-A Reno. Fernández was subsequently inserted into the batting lineup, taking the seventh position as a third baseman. Lars Nootbaar stepped in to fill Marte's role as designated hitter for the evening's game.
