Mark Selby Claims Fourth China Open Title with Victory Over Saengkham

Mark Selby has triumphed at the China Open, clinching his fourth title in the prestigious tournament with a 10-6 victory over Noppon Saengkham in Taiyuan. This win marks a significant achievement for Selby, who is now the first player to win the China Open four times, having previously secured titles in 2015, 2017, and 2018.

At 43 years old, Selby continues to demonstrate his prowess in the sport, bringing his total to 26 ranking event victories. His latest success has propelled him up the world rankings from ninth to fifth, reaffirming his status as one of snooker's elite players.

The final match saw Selby initially struggle, falling behind 4-2 despite making a remarkable break of 138 in the third frame. However, he rallied to finish the first session level at 4-4. In the second session, Selby showcased his skill with breaks of 58, 90, 69, and 53, gaining a significant lead.

Saengkham, who had previously eliminated top players like Judd Trump and Ronnie O'Sullivan, managed to respond with a break of 71 but ultimately could not overcome Selby's commanding performance. Selby secured the win with a final break, earning £250,000, while Saengkham took home £100,000 as the runner-up.

Saengkham's impressive run in the tournament has also seen him rise 18 places in the world rankings to 27th. He acknowledged Selby's strength and control during the match, expressing his determination to become a champion in the future.
