Brewers Fall Short Again, Lose to Dodgers 3-1 in Late Rally Attempt

The Milwaukee Brewers faced the Los Angeles Dodgers on Tuesday night, suffering a 3-1 defeat for the second consecutive game. Once again, the Brewers found themselves needing a late-game rally, but despite loading the bases in the ninth inning, they could not capitalize on the opportunity.

In the early stages, the Brewers made Dodgers pitcher Yoshinobu Yamamoto work hard, requiring 26 pitches to navigate the first inning, although they only managed a walk from Jake Bauers. Meanwhile, Brewers starter Robert Gasser was more efficient, needing just 14 pitches in the same frame. However, the Dodgers managed to score first, with Mookie Betts driving in a run with a single, putting Milwaukee behind 1-0.

The Brewers finally broke through in the fifth inning when Luis Lara hit a double, followed by a successful bunt single from David Hamilton. Joey Ortiz then tied the game with a line drive that brought Lara home. Unfortunately for Milwaukee, the tie was short-lived as Andy Pages hit a solo home run in the bottom of the fifth, regaining the lead for the Dodgers at 2-1. Tommy Edman added another solo shot in the sixth, extending the Brewers' deficit to 3-1.

Gasser had a solid outing, pitching into the seventh inning and allowing three runs on eight hits while striking out seven. He finished with a career-high 102 pitches. Yamamoto, on the other hand, limited the Brewers to just one run over six innings, striking out nine batters before exiting the game.

The bullpens kept the game scoreless through the seventh and eighth innings. In the ninth, the Brewers mounted a final effort, starting with a hit-by-pitch for Andrew Vaughn, who was replaced by pinch-runner Jihwan Bae. Bae stole second, putting the potential tying run in scoring position. However, Christian Yelich struck out, and despite a walk issued to William Contreras, the Brewers could not convert, as Edman made a crucial play to end the inning and secure the win for the Dodgers.
