At a recent news conference in Philadelphia, Ian Machado Garry faced a chorus of boos from the crowd as he prepared for his upcoming title fight against welterweight champion Islam Makhachev at UFC 330. Despite the hostile reception, Garry expressed his belief that fans will be cheering for him after he claims victory on fight night.

The Irish fighter, who boasts a professional record of 17 wins in 18 bouts, is determined to prove his worth as the number one contender in the welterweight division. He stated, "On Saturday night that belt will be wrapped around my waist, and every single one of you is going to change - it’s going to be ‘let’s go Garry’ chants." Garry emphasized that the booing did not affect him, noting that he was living his dream by competing for a world title.

During the media day, Garry also addressed a journalist's attempt to stir controversy by asking if Makhachev found him annoying. Garry interjected, urging the journalist to focus on the fight instead. He remarked, "This is the biggest fight of the year, I think there are more important things to talk about."

As the fight approaches, Garry noted feeling "nervous energy" from Makhachev during their face-off, although their interaction was cordial.
