Cardinals Clinch Series Win Over Phillies with Strong Performance

Starting pitcher Kyle Leahy was instrumental in the win, delivering five solid innings. He allowed just six hits while striking out six batters and issuing no walks, outpacing Phillies ace Zack Wheeler, who also pitched five innings but gave up four earned runs.

The Cardinals struck first in the second inning when Jordan Walker's single, aided by an infielder's glove, set the stage for Nathan Church's double, bringing Walker home for a 1-0 lead. However, the Phillies quickly responded in the fourth with back-to-back doubles from Bryce Harper and Luis Arraez, tying the game at 1-1.

The Cardinals regained control in the fifth inning, beginning with a single from Prieto, who was followed by JJ Wetherholt's single to advance him to third. Ivan Herrera then drove in Prieto, and Burleson and Walker added back-to-back doubles, extending the lead to 5-1.

In the seventh inning, Burleson added another RBI single, complemented by a sacrifice fly from Church, bringing the score to 7-1. The Cardinals' bullpen, featuring Justin Bruihl, Gordon Graceffo, and Luis Gastelum, held the Phillies scoreless for the remainder of the game, securing the series win as the team prepares for an upcoming matchup against the Chicago Cubs.
