Rybakina Stuns Osaka with Comeback Victory at Canadian Open

Elena Rybakina staged a remarkable comeback to defeat Naomi Osaka in the quarter-finals of the Canadian Open, overcoming a set and a break deficit to win the match in three sets. The contest lasted two hours and 33 minutes, with Rybakina ultimately triumphing 4-6, 7-6 (7-5), 6-4.

Osaka, a four-time Grand Slam champion, initially took control of the match, winning the first set and leading 4-2 in the second. However, Rybakina fought back, winning three consecutive games and clinching the second set in a tiebreaker to level the match.

Despite Rybakina's struggle with unforced errors—totaling 72 during the match—she managed to hold her nerve in the deciding set. After saving four break points while trailing 2-3, she broke Osaka's serve and served out the match with a decisive 15th ace.

With this victory, Rybakina advances to the semi-finals, where she will face Coco Gauff. Meanwhile, Osaka announced her withdrawal from the upcoming Cincinnati Open, citing fatigue as the reason for her decision. Gauff's advancement to the semi-finals was also aided by Belinda Bencic's withdrawal due to a hip injury.

In the other semi-final, Iga Swiatek will compete against Elina Svitolina, both having secured their spots with impressive wins in their respective matches.
