Mets Prospect Rojas Homers in Binghamton, Tong Shines for Syracuse

Mets' top prospect Jefferson Rojas made an impactful debut with Double-A Binghamton, hitting his first home run for the team on Tuesday night. Rojas went 3-for-5 at the plate, starting with a solo home run in the first inning, followed by two consecutive RBI doubles in his next at-bats.

Since joining Binghamton, Rojas has been impressive, boasting a .304 batting average over six games with 7 hits in 23 at-bats, including two three-hit performances in his last three outings.

Another notable performance came from Billy Amick, who also joined the Mets organization recently. Amick recorded a 2-for-5 night with an RBI and three runs scored, bringing his total to 10 hits in 29 at-bats since the trade, including five home runs.

On the mound, Jonah Tong pitched effectively for Triple-A Syracuse, allowing one run on four hits and three walks while striking out six batters in four-plus innings. Tong faced some challenges, including a home run in the second inning and a defensive lapse in the fifth that led to a bases-loaded situation before he was relieved.

Tong's performance is a positive sign as he aims for a return to the major leagues. Mets interim manager Andy Green has remarked on Tong's progress and the factors that could lead to a call-up if he continues to perform well.
