Esports World Cup Group Stage Set to Begin with 32 Teams
36 days agoThe organizers of the Esports World Cup have announced the group allocations for the highly anticipated event, which boasts a prize pool of $2 million. Following the conclusion of the Last Chance Qualifier, the final four teams were determined, and the competition is set to commence with 32 teams in total.
The teams have been divided into four groups of eight, based on their standings from the July Valve Regional Standings. Notably, two teams from the Last Chance Qualifier, BIG and JiJieHao, have been placed in Group A, with BIG securing a position ahead of several directly invited teams.
The group stage will kick off on Wednesday, August 12, and will run until Sunday, August 16. Matches will follow a double-elimination format, starting with best-of-one contests, while subsequent matches will shift to best-of-three formats.
Following the group stage, the top four teams from each group will advance to the single-elimination playoffs, scheduled from August 19 to 23, culminating in the grand final at the Accor Arena.
