Shaquille O'Neal Advocates for Kobe Bryant in GOAT Debate

In a recent episode of "The Big Podcast," Shaquille O'Neal expressed his belief that Kobe Bryant should be included in discussions about the greatest basketball players of all time. O'Neal, a former teammate of Bryant, emphasized that the conversation often centers around Michael Jordan and LeBron James, but he feels Bryant's contributions are overlooked.

O'Neal stated, "There are only three people in the GOAT conversation: Kobe, Bron, and Mike. That's it." This comment came after he was asked about his own standing in the debate, leading to a discussion about the biases present in evaluating players by their positions.

Bryant, who played his entire 20-year career with the Los Angeles Lakers, won five NBA championships and was a two-time Finals MVP. His accolades include a regular-season MVP award in 2008 and a reputation for his fierce competitive spirit, often referred to as the "Mamba Mentality."

While Bryant's five championships surpass LeBron James' four, they fall short of Jordan's six titles, with Jordan also earning Finals MVP honors in each of those series. Despite this, O'Neal argues that Bryant's legacy should not be diminished in the GOAT debate.

One of Bryant's most iconic performances was his 81-point game against the Toronto Raptors in 2006, which remains the second-highest single-game scoring total in NBA history, trailing only Wilt Chamberlain's 100-point game in 1962.
