Nuggets Sign Veteran Lonnie Walker IV to One-Year Deal

The Denver Nuggets have made a move to bolster their backcourt by signing veteran guard Lonnie Walker IV to a one-year contract. This addition comes as the team seeks to address depth concerns following the departure of Tim Hardaway Jr. in free agency, along with the absence of Jalen Pickett.

Walker, standing at 6'4", has spent seven seasons in the NBA, with his most recent stint being with Maccabi Tel Aviv. Known for his scoring ability, he has averaged double-digit points in four of his last five seasons, and he holds a career shooting percentage of 35.6% from beyond the arc. Last season in the EuroLeague, he averaged 15.2 points per game while shooting 35.1% from three-point range.

While it remains uncertain whether Walker's contract is fully guaranteed, he may have the opportunity to step into a role similar to that of Bruce Brown, who played a significant part for the Nuggets last season. Walker's versatility and experience could prove valuable as the team navigates its offseason adjustments.

The Nuggets are currently facing challenges with their roster, particularly regarding salary cap management, as they are above the second apron of the luxury tax with 12 contracts in place. The organization is also exploring options to either re-sign or facilitate a sign-and-trade for wing player Peyton Watson, while considering trades involving Cameron Johnson or Christian Braun to alleviate their salary situation.
