Malaysian Players Shine in Korea Masters Semifinals

In a promising display for Malaysian badminton, five players have secured spots in the semifinals of the Korea Masters. Man Wei Chong and Soh Wooi Yik, along with Tee Kai Wun and Yap Roy King, triumphed in their respective quarterfinal matches, while Cheam June Wei advanced in the men's singles event.

Man and Soh delivered a dominant performance against India's Krishna Prasad Garaga and Pruthvi Krishnamurthy Roy, winning in just 25 minutes with scores of 21-7 and 21-8. This victory marks their first semifinal appearance together since their pairing was restructured.

Tee and Yap also showcased their skills in an all-Malaysian quarterfinal, defeating Aaron Chia and Aaron Tai in 28 minutes with a score of 21-12, 21-15. The duo's decisive run included a stretch of nine consecutive points that established their control over the match.

In the men's singles, Cheam June Wei fought through a challenging match against Chinese Taipei's seventh seed, Su Li Yang. After a 67-minute battle, Cheam emerged victorious with scores of 23-21, 10-21, 21-18, marking his first semifinal appearance at a Super 300 event in over two years.

The success of these newly formed Malaysian pairs highlights the positive impact of the recent reshuffling of the men’s doubles program, as both partnerships continue to gain momentum in international competition.
