Blue Jays' Trey Yesavage Placed on 15-Day IL Due to Knee Inflammation
40 days agoToronto Blue Jays pitcher Trey Yesavage has been placed on the 15-day injured list due to inflammation in his left knee. The injury occurred during warmups prior to the third inning of a game against the Houston Astros, where he reported feeling a "little pinch" in his knee, leading to his early exit after two scoreless innings in a 7-2 loss.
Manager John Schneider confirmed that the issue arose when Yesavage landed awkwardly on his lead leg, causing his knee to buckle. An MRI later revealed the inflammation, prompting the team to make roster adjustments. In response, the Blue Jays recalled right-handed pitchers Lazaro Estrada and Chase Lee from Triple-A Buffalo and optioned Chad Dallas back to the Bisons.
This season has been challenging for the Blue Jays, who have faced numerous injuries. Yesavage, a former AL Rookie of the Year favorite, made his MLB debut last year and was instrumental in the team's run to the World Series. He has made 18 starts this season, posting a 3.65 ERA, but his current injury raises concerns about his availability for the remainder of the season, especially as the team seeks to secure a playoff spot.
