Alexandra Eala Advances to Washington Open Final After Defeating Naomi Osaka

Alexandra Eala has continued her impressive season by defeating Naomi Osaka in the semifinals of the Washington Open, winning the match 6-4, 6-2. This victory propels Eala into her first WTA Tour final, where she will face world number three Jessica Pegula.

Starting the year ranked outside the top 50, Eala is set to achieve a career-high ranking of 24th following her performance in Washington. The 21-year-old has had a standout season, including six victories against top-10 players and a notable run to the fourth round at Wimbledon, where she became the first Filipina to reach that stage in the Open era.

In her path to the final, Eala also defeated second seed Elina Svitolina and former champion Leylah Fernandez. Eala's strong performance against Osaka showcased her improved serve, winning 71% of her first-serve points and only conceding four points on her second serve.
