DAZN Secures Streaming Rights for Major NY Sports Teams, Expands NBA Reach
47 days agoDAZN has officially become the exclusive streaming platform for several major New York sports franchises, including the New York Yankees, Knicks, Rangers, Islanders, Brooklyn Nets, New Jersey Devils, and Buffalo Sabres. This partnership, announced recently, marks a significant step in DAZN's strategy to enhance its presence in the U.S. sports market.
Shay Segev, CEO of DAZN, expressed that this deal is a pivotal moment for the company, reflecting its commitment to expanding its footprint in the United States. Furthermore, Segev revealed that DAZN is in advanced discussions to secure streaming rights for additional NBA teams for the upcoming 2026-27 season, including the Cleveland Cavaliers, Indiana Pacers, Memphis Grizzlies, Minnesota Timberwolves, and San Antonio Spurs.
In addition to these teams, DAZN is negotiating direct-to-consumer streaming arrangements with the Charlotte Hornets and Orlando Magic. This move comes as professional sports leagues, including the NBA, seek new distribution models amid the decline of regional sports networks.
NBA Commissioner Adam Silver recently indicated that a centralized solution for local broadcasting challenges is anticipated, which could position DAZN as a key player in addressing these issues. He stated that while temporary solutions are being arranged for the current season, a more comprehensive national strategy is expected for the following year.
Founded in 2016, DAZN has primarily focused on combat sports and international soccer in the U.S. market. The platform also offers international rights to various American sports, including NFL and NBA games. DAZN will provide 24/7 feeds of MSG, MSG Sportsnet, and YES Network, along with on-demand highlights and original programming, enhancing its offerings for sports fans.
