Cameron Norrie Ends Losing Streak with Victory in Mexico
48 days agoCameron Norrie, the British number two, has successfully broken a six-match losing streak by defeating Aleksandar Kovacevic 6-4, 6-1 in the first round of the Mifel Open in Mexico. This marks Norrie's first victory since the Madrid Open in April, where he faced a disappointing first-round exit at Wimbledon against qualifier Michael Zheng.
Competing at the venue where he claimed his first ATP title in 2021, Norrie demonstrated resilience after having his serve broken twice in the opening set, including in the first game. However, he quickly regained his composure, losing only five points on serve in the second set and breaking Kovacevic twice to secure the match.
With this win, Norrie advances to the last 16, where he will face either Australian James Duckworth or American Aidan Mayo. Meanwhile, fellow British player Katie Boulter faced a tough loss in the first round of the Citi Open, extending her losing streak to four matches after a defeat to American Ashlyn Krueger.
