Freddy Peralta Acknowledges Struggles, Trade Likely as Mets Fall Out of Contention

Freddy Peralta, currently with the struggling New York Mets, has expressed his disappointment regarding his performance this season. As the Mets find themselves significantly out of playoff contention, the team is preparing to make moves ahead of the trade deadline on August 3.

In a recent outing against the Los Angeles Dodgers, Peralta allowed three runs (two earned) and six hits over four innings. Despite his efforts, the Mets secured an 8-3 victory, aided by three-run homers from Tyrone Taylor and Marcus Semien. Peralta's record stands at 5-9 with a 4.99 ERA across 22 starts this season, a stark contrast to his previous year where he excelled with a 17-6 record and a 2.70 ERA.

Peralta was acquired from the Milwaukee Brewers in January, giving up two top prospects in hopes that he would become a key starter for the Mets.
