Dodgers Set to Activate Closer Edwin Díaz from Injured List

The Los Angeles Dodgers are preparing to welcome back closer Edwin Díaz, who is set to be activated from the injured list on Wednesday. This marks a significant return for the veteran reliever after he has spent three months recovering from an elbow injury.

Díaz, who signed a three-year, $69 million contract with the Dodgers last winter, was expected to bolster the bullpen but struggled in his initial appearances. He allowed seven earned runs in just six innings before being placed on the injured list due to loose bodies in his elbow.

While Díaz has been on a rehab assignment with Triple-A Oklahoma City, he is scheduled to make one final appearance before rejoining the Dodgers. Manager Dave Roberts confirmed the activation plans, which also include veteran utility player Kiké Hernández, who is expected to return on Tuesday.

In Díaz's absence, the Dodgers have relied on Tanner Scott as their closer, who has performed admirably, contributing to the bullpen's impressive 3.77 ERA, ranking seventh in Major League Baseball. The team hopes that Díaz's return will further strengthen their relief options as they head into the second half of the season.

Díaz's return is part of a broader strategy for the Dodgers, who are also looking to reintegrate other key players, including starting pitchers Blake Snell and Tyler Glasnow, reliever Blake Treinen, and catcher Will Smith.
