Thunder Extend Offer Sheet to Spencer Jones; Nuggets Have 48 Hours to Respond

The Oklahoma City Thunder have reportedly signed restricted free agent Spencer Jones to a two-year, $12 million offer sheet. This move, confirmed by ESPN's Shams Charania, requires the Denver Nuggets to make a decision on whether to match the offer within 48 hours.

Jones, who is 25 years old, recently completed his second season with the Nuggets, where he averaged 5.5 points and 3.3 rebounds over 22 minutes per game. He played in 64 games, starting 37 for a Nuggets team that finished third in the Western Conference with a 54-28 record.

A key aspect of Jones' value is his shooting ability, particularly from beyond the arc. He converted 40% of his 144 three-point attempts during the regular season and excelled in the playoffs, shooting 69% on 13 attempts. This long-range threat is especially significant for the Thunder, who traded three of their top five three-point shooters this offseason to manage their salary cap.

The Thunder's recent trades included Isaiah Joe, who shot 42% from three, and Lu Dort and Aaron Wiggins, both of whom were significant contributors. By signing Jones, the Thunder aim to fill the gap left by these departures with a more cost-effective option for three-point shooting.

Jones, who went undrafted out of Stanford, initially joined the Nuggets on a two-way contract before being promoted to a full NBA contract in February 2026. The Nuggets also face decisions regarding another restricted free agent, Peyton Watson, who is reportedly seeking a substantial contract.
