Rockets Add Forward Julian Phillips to Training Camp Roster

The Houston Rockets have made another move to bolster their roster, announcing the signing of forward Julian Phillips to a non-guaranteed contract. This acquisition comes as the team prepares for the upcoming training camp.

Phillips, who stands at 6 feet 8 inches tall, is only 22 years old and was selected as the 35th overall pick in the 2023 NBA Draft by the Chicago Bulls. After spending two and a half seasons with Chicago, he was traded to the Minnesota Timberwolves, who opted not to exercise his contract option, leading him to Houston.

Throughout his career, Phillips has averaged 3.6 points and 1.5 rebounds per game, typically playing around 11 minutes per contest. While he is recognized for his athleticism, he has yet to fully develop his skills on the court. The Rockets, known for their young talent, may provide the right environment for Phillips to enhance his game and reach his potential.

With Phillips' signing, the Rockets now have a total of 19 players on their training camp roster. NBA teams are allowed to have up to 21 players during camp, but must reduce their roster to 15 before the season begins. Phillips will be competing for a spot on the final roster, as his contract is not fully guaranteed.
