Dodgers' Shohei Ohtani Update: No Rush for Return to Pitching

Los Angeles Dodgers manager Dave Roberts provided an update on Shohei Ohtani, indicating that the star's return to pitching is not imminent. Following a bullpen session on July 22 in Philadelphia, Ohtani is scheduled for another session on July 25 in New York, but he is not expected to pitch in the upcoming week.

Roberts emphasized the importance of Ohtani's long-term health, stating, "That's too early. I feel very good that it won't be next week." The two-way player was sidelined from his scheduled start before the MLB All-Star break due to left knee inflammation and irritation.

While Ohtani is eager to return to the mound, Roberts noted that the focus is on the postseason rather than rushing back in July. "Every player wants to get back out there and do what they do. But I think he understands it's not about July, it's about October," Roberts added. The Dodgers are committed to ensuring Ohtani is fully healthy before he resumes pitching duties.
