Jessica Andrade Takes on Delivery Driving During Recovery

Jessica Andrade, the former UFC strawweight champion, is currently working as a delivery driver to supplement her income while she recovers from a shoulder injury. The 34-year-old Brazilian has not competed since her loss to Loopy Godinez in August 2022.

In a recent interview on the Brazilian MMA podcast Direto de Vegas, Andrade shared her experience of delivering meals and other items through an app. She stated, "I do whatever it takes. I'm not afraid of hard work. I can do just about anything."

Alongside her delivery work, Andrade has also taken on a landscaping project at a friend's home, which includes tasks such as removing rocks and painting fences. She expressed her desire to have multiple sources of income, especially during financially challenging times.

Andrade's dedication to her career has been evident throughout her time in the UFC, where she has participated in 30 fights since her debut in 2013, securing 17 victories. However, she has faced financial difficulties in the past, including selling her UFC gear in 2018 due to a lack of sponsorships.

The issue of fighter pay in the UFC has been a topic of discussion, especially in light of contrasting earnings in boxing. UFC president Dana White has defended the promotion's pay structure, noting that fighter compensation has increased since 2001.
