Gavin Williams Achieves Immaculate Inning in Dominant Performance Against Twins

Cleveland Guardians pitcher Gavin Williams delivered an impressive performance on Thursday, achieving the franchise's fifth immaculate inning during a game against the Minnesota Twins. Williams showcased remarkable efficiency, needing just nine pitches to retire three batters in the top of the fourth inning, all via strikeouts.

In that inning, Williams faced Byron Buxton, Ryan Jeffers, and Josh Bell, striking them out on three pitches each. His dominance was evident as he recorded five swinging strikes, two looking, and two foul balls, completing the inning with remarkable speed.

Despite the historic moment, third baseman José Ramírez almost tossed the ball into the stands after the third out, unaware of the significance. Fortunately, catcher Patrick Bailey intervened, ensuring the ball was preserved as a memento of the achievement.

Overall, Williams finished the game with 11 strikeouts, marking the third consecutive start in which he has reached that strikeout total. He was replaced after seven innings, having thrown 97 pitches, with the Guardians leading 1-0.
